Evaluation Question Four
How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
During the process of my production I have used a range of media technology and throughout the process I have gained many skills and learnt different techniques. I used various computers, laptops while doing research but I mainly used an Apple Mac to help me develop my knowledge of the codes and conventions of Horror films/trailers. While using the Apple Macs I also used Google to research the different types of Horror as well as the codes and conventions that make up Horror and YouTube to look at other trailers while analysing the common features also camera angles that are used in Horror trailers/films that I could take inspiration from and use in my own trailer.
How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
In terms of presenting all my work and ideas, I used Blogger to upload every idea I had and every piece of work, while also using Prezi to present the work and answers in a different way but I didn’t need to use it as much as Blogger. During process I used Blogger throughout to keep track of all my work as it was easy to use and shows me how I could improve certain aspects of my work. It was helpful in keeping me on track of when all my work was posted and the progress I was making over time, it was also easy to attach pictures or links to show where I created my work or got inspiration from. Another form of technology I used was Survey Monkey to do target audience research for my trailer in which it allowed me to create questionnaires and it created results out of graphs showing the overall answers that the people chose and my analysis of the questionnaire. This was also an easy feature to use rather than doing a traditional questionnaire which would take much longer it provided with the results itself.
When creating my product pieces I used a DSLR camera to take pictures and used it to film my trailer. When doing this I had to use a tripod to make sure the camera was still and not shaking while filming. When first learning to use the DSLR camera I found it difficult as it had may different aspects to it but overtime I learnt how to play around with the settings to develop my knowledge of how to use it. In process of editing our trailer I first got taught how to use iMovie which was simple to use but later changed the editing application to Premier Pro. However, although this was more changeling as it included many more features to editing but after a while I found this application was much a much more helpful piece of technology when editing my trailer as it allowed to me learn more and create a better trailer. As well as this I used Photoshop to edit the images that I used for my magazine cover and movie poster, to create a better-looking image by adjusting the settings of the images.
In conclusion, throughout this process I have used a range of technology to portray my work. Using Blogger helped me the most along the way as it kept me of track of all my work and using other forms of technology that I hadn't used before made my widen my knowledge and learn more about my research, planning and evaluation.
