Evaluation Question Two

Q2. How effective is the combination of your main product and text?

My media product links back to my magazine and movie poster because it relates to my chosen genre, which is Horror. The genre of Horror is presented throughout all of my products, firstly by the colour scheme.

have used specific colours such as green/dark green, black, white and red in all of my products as they are all taken from my trailer, I chose these colours because it creates an unknown and frightening atmosphere, which is something that happens continuously in my trailer. It includes similar elements from the trailer in all of my products, which the audience will be able to recognize, as I wanted to make sure everything had connections to each other. Firstly, in my magazine cover it features the same colour scheme and text style in the title, background and text. The colour red used in the title represents danger or fear and the dark green background creates an overall frightening aspect, which is very common and sticks to the story of my trailer. The main image of the magazine cover is a image of a girl standing in a dark space looking up towards a light but not able to see her face which is a scene from the trailer to help the audience realise what it is about and help make comparisons to the trailer.

In comparison to my movie poster, it still includes the main features from my trailer and magazine cover but with some other aspects to it. Firstly, the title of the trailer ‘Don’t Go There’ it can give the audience an insight into what could happen in the trailer, the style of text is the same and is clearly visible for the audience to see as well as the colour of the text, which is white. This is shown throughout both of my magazine cover and movie poster, it is so the audience can see the similarities from each product and that they both link back to my trailer. Although, the only thing I didn’t use in both of my products was the main image. I decided to use another image from my magazine cover to show a different scene from the trailer to show the different things that happen in the trailer and to keep the audience interested. Even though it is another image used compared to my magazine cover it is still in the same style as it still includes certain features in both of them such as a figure in an empty dark place without seeing the persons face which tells the audience its related to Horror as it is unknown and that they both link well to my trailer.

In conclusion I feel that my magazine cover, movie poster and trailer all share similar features with each other. It also portrays the whole genre of horror as shown through the use of colours of green, black and white which each represent evil and danger, the images of figures included from the trailer to create an unsettling feeling and symbols to show that horror is common throughout all three of my products.
